Scrappy, R.I.P. 2008-2009

I bought he for $150 after I realized I was going to end up homeless. I drove from Portland, Oregon to San Diego, California to huntington Beach California and back and forth between Huntington Beach and San Diego many times, and lived in her for nine months and then drover her to Hollywood, Florida where I know live. Here, I drover her for several months. Today, I signed Scrappy over to a junk yard and got $200 cash for her with a non-running engine. She served me well. May she rest in peace, or as is more likely, pieces.

Of course, I’m still handicapped and still can barely walk, so this leaves me stranded. Sigh.

He’s baaaaaaaaaaack!

As some of you may have noticed, this site has been down for the last month. It’s not been due to a lack of funds to keep the site going, but rather a lot of thinking going into how and if I would keep this site going.
Originally, the kind folks at Squarespace donated six months of free web hosting to me here at Squarespace. Now I admit, the reason I asked them for the hosting was to try out the service, I could have just set this website up using something like WordPress or the equivalent.
The six months of hosting expired at the end of last November. Now I had to decide what to do, first, did I want to continue the site at all, then, when I decided I did want to continue the site, I had to choose where, here at Squarespace or on my server.
So what do I think of Squarespace? I like it, I’m very impressed with the software, with the quality of tech support, with the uptime, in fact, there is nothing I have not found to be first rate. I am very pleased with Squarespace and find the prices to be very good, I now pay $20 a month for my service, at the level of service I desired. The principle difference between the free service I had and the level I have now is the loss of user registration for the website, which prevents my being able to have areas of the site only available to registered users. I was not using this and so did not buy a level of service that included this feature. I decided to continue my hosting here, at least for the time being, as a way to thank the kind people at Squarespace for having donated the space to me.
So, having made my decisions, I’m back, and will, over the next few days, finish up writing the “History of My Homelessness” series and the bring you up-to-date with what has been happening to me since my hospitalization last month.
